| Fish are the greatest pets in
the world, fins down. Why? Funny you should ask!
FISH ARE THE GREATEST PETS
BECAUSE:
1. You never have
to pick up after them.
2. You can keep fish in your room without them
having to sacrifice their natural environment. Sort of.
3. Some of them are red!
4. They're cheap. Except for the expensive ones.
They're not.
5. They're fun to watch. Especially the red ones.
6. There's actually a good chance your parent(s)
will let you have 'em. Maybe.
7. See #3.

A Butterfly Triggerfish
|
The only drawback with fish is
that they die. A lot. Although every dedicated aquarist goes
through numerous fish in their lifetime, many people simply
don't know what makes fish happy and what make them die. And
that's a waste. But, things don't have to be this way.
Here are seven helpful hints that will help your fish lead
happy, healthy, and relatively unsmelly lives. |
 |
- Run your tank -- complete with a
filter and water conditioning solutions --
BEFORE adding fish. Although boring, this step
ensures your fish won't get clobbered by chlorine or a
hunk of tap water they can't stand.
- Never stick stuff that isn't
made for the aquarium inside your tank.
This includes pepperoni.
- Begin with good starter fish
like platies, mollies, rainbows, tetras, or goldfish.
- Don't wear stripes and polka
dots at the same time. This is
embarrassing. Even for your fish.
- Don't overfeed.
- Soak all bags of new fish in
your aquarium for about an hour before
dumping them into the tank. This helps them get used
to the temperature of their new crib. Also,
it makes the bag feel important before it gets tossed.
- Don't ever use household chemicals like
glass cleaner inside your
aquarium. And make sure your
mom doesn't do it either when you're
not around.

FISH LOVERS UNITE IN 2012!
Here at Paladin13, we believe that fish are the pets of
the future. Within the next 10 years, we just know that four out of every
five people on earth will have a pet fish. As a matter
if fact, we're going to make it a law. And anyone who refuses to have a pet fish will be forced -- by law,
mind you -- to make lunch for any and all aquarists within their
vicinity.
Today, we would like hotdogs. With honey mustard and peeled baby
carrots. We own fish. Make it so! |

Pet stores often sell
aquarium starter kits to help new aquarists get their feet wet. Look for
these kit items to ensure getting your money's worth and all the
essentials for a good first aquarium. |
1. Aquarium (glass or plastic)
4. Water conditioners (one to get rid of chlorine, one to help with the
biological filtration, or natural cleaning, of the water)
5. Fish food
6. Filter
7. Gravel
8. Net
9. Aquarium thermometer
10. Canopy (optional tank cover & light) |

5 Reasons Why We've
Used So Many Numbered Lists in this Article:
|
1. We like to count stuff.
2. It's easier to read that way.
3. It's easier to write that way.
4. Numbers are cool. Especially '11'.
5. Lists make unimportant things seem crucial. For example lists
of things like reasons for making lists. |
